Paintball Gun Safety TipsI thought I’d take the time and break down the safety practices that you should be taking with your paintball gun. Considering that you can shoot a paintball over 200 mph, it is important to stay safe at all times because it can be quite easy to hurt someone or even hurt yourself. 1. Plug Barrel It is important to have your barrel plugged or have a bag protecting the end of your marker while you’re in public/not playing. It’s safe to say that in these situations that no one is wearing a mask. This is the time in which you could really hurt someone if you don’t watch yourself. Shooting out someone’s eye could easily happen and you could even shoot out your own. Having a simple plug in the end of the barrel will prevent you from firing anything. Even having a bag on the end of the barrel will absorb the paintball instead of it hitting someone. 2. Masks On All The Time In Field In a game of paintball you’re going to have rules or stoppages that are created by someone getting hurt or something. When I play, people can call out freeze in case someone hurts themselves. The worst thing you can do is take your mask off or lift it up to attent to someone that is hurt. Another play might not of heard you and could shoot at you. Even someone in the field standing around could accidently pull the trigger. Your safety is important and when you’re in an environment of shooting, you keep that mask on, even if people aren’t supposed to be shooting. 3. Know What You’re Shooting In the game you’re going to shoot in a general direction and that is fine. You don’t always have to know where you’re shooting. But you have to understand where you are. There are obviously boundaries to a playing field (outside) because there are places you shouldn’t be going. You could very easily shoot up someone’s house, a car, or even a person that is outside doing gardening. You never know what you’re going to hit. Even when you’re playing you should have a rough idea of where the ref is too. You don’t spray a lot of shots in a general direction if you don’t know where the ref is. These are some of the more general safety tips that you should be folling when you have a paintball gun in your hands or other people around you have a marker in their hands. Just use your brain and let common sense guide you.
