Paintball Tactics and StrategiesI wanted to take the time to talk to you about paintball strategies because there is a lot of little things that you have to know in order to play this game. A lot of people think that they can just start into the sport and figure out things as they go. I suppose that is true, but you have to remember that this is very tactical. SWAT teams and Marines train very hard for years to get things down properly, so you can expect the same type of learning. The Fast Run I’m not really sure what to call this tactic, but it is when you run up toward your opponents very fast and try to catch them by surprise. Most people remain in stationary places shooting around them, to remain protected. Typically, this is what I suggest you do, but if your team is down players than you’re going to have to surprise your enemy. Eventually they’re going to surround you and you’re done. I don’t suggest running right up the middle of the arena because you can get shot in a range of a 180 degrees, which isn’t good. It’s best to run up one of the sides, which closes the range to a 90 degree angle of where your opponents could potentially be. If you’re planning on doing something like this, than having some paintball armor can really help you out because you are most likely to get shot. Strong Side Attack This is a really important paintball strategy to implement and often catches opponents by surprise. Typically a match will fall into a quagmire if everyone holds their positions, but with a strong side attack you can typically over run one person and flank the rest. Obviously there will be more than one direction to engage your enemy. The key is dividing up your team into large, medium and small groups. If you have 12 people than you’d have a group of 6, 4 and 2. The idea for the small group is to engage the opponents in almost a distracting manner. You want your opponents to focus on them. The group of 4 players should be the same way except they are closer to the large group and act as a back up. The large group is designed to run up one of the sides and over the opponent on that side. This makes it much easier to flank your opponent. Plus it opens up the range of potentional shooting areas. Typically an enemy has to worry about 180 degrees, but this tactic opens it up to about 270 degrees. Leap Frog This is a tactic that you would of seen in movies. Soldiers, police officers and all sorts of tactical units use this. Basically the idea is that one person advances while the other covers them. Than that person advances while the other covers. It’s not something that is useful with a lot of players. Typically you would use this when there are only a few opponents left and they’re hiding. These are a few of the paintball strategies that I see happening a lot in games. You’ll be expected to know some of these if you’re playing on a team because you’re expected to work as a team.
